Here are some of the key points of pest prevention. Take these steps in order to stop pests before they invade your home.
- Perform a thorough inspection of your home's exterior and seal up any cracks that you are able to locate around the foundation, in the siding, under the eaves and around windows and doors. These cracks allow instant access to many pests.
- Inspect the weather-stripping around possible entry points, often times you can replace the old weather-stripping for a better seal.
- Do not leave uncovered food sitting out. Never allow pet food to sit overnight as this is an immediate attractant to pests.
- Maintain a clutter free yard and garage; eliminate debris such as woodpiles, stones, bricks or any other sort of debris. These debris piles provide excellent harborage for many pests.
- Inspect the attic and make sure that there is sufficient ventilation. Good ventilation creates an environment that is unsuitable for many household pests.
